Hi -
I'm recently diagnosed and have my first Botox shots tomorrow. I'm seeing Dr. Lucien Sulica at Beth Israel in NYC. Does anyone out there also have a-typical Asthma? I just got Asthma in the past two years, and it is getting progressively worse - non-reponsive to medications. I'm on Oxygen now. I had to go to the ER a couple of weeks ago for my Asthma. I couldn't talk most of the time because of the SD. The MD and nurses thought I was faking the Asthma and refusing to talk - they didn't believe me or my mother. I had bronchospasms, diaphragm dystonia and choking all at once - they yelled at me to stop faking it - but I couldn't breathe at all several times! I had to wait until the spasms stopped. I have a computer printed sheet with my conditions, meds, doctors, etc. to explain, but nobody cared! I'm feeling desperate and scared (the ER incident was horrifying). Dr. Sulica hopes that the Botox will somehow ease the Asthma. Every trigger is serious now, even the oxygen doesn't stop the bronchospasms. My Pulmonologist is trying to get my insurance to pay for Jewish Medical in Denver, but I think they are more oriented to allergies and not knowledgeable about SD and diaphragm dystonia. I also can't comprehend flying in my present condition!!!!!!!!! Sorry to rant, but my life has turned into a horror show. I hope the Botox will at least give me back my voice - I really miss talking spontaneously. Marian |
