hey everyone. my sister found this stuff called belladonna, its a homeopathic pellet used for many things including vocal spasms. i did a search on yahoo "belladonna for vocal spasms" and i found a huge list of uses for this stuff including difficulty in speech, stammering , and vocal spasms. you can find this stuff at herb and medicine stores and is cheap. i just started taking it today so i cant conclude if its going to work for me, it may take a while to work. i was wondering if anyone has tried this stuff? and did it help? - jayme CA |

Belladonna apparently has a wide variety of uses. I knew it was a poison but wasn't aware that it's extracted from the plant deadly nightshade till I did a search. I found a variety of medicinal and homeopathic uses described on a site I located. I'll bet dosage is pretty important to monitor. Personally, I sure wouldn't want to self-medicate in ignorance on this. Did you know or contact someone who is taking it already, or do you know a specialist who is aware of the effects? interactions?

Hi Jayme,
I had to take belladonna for a terrible case of stomach cramps and flu--couldn't eat for a week. It is a perscription. I never have seen it in the Health food stores. I would ask Dr. first, Jayme and make sure it is o.k. and look into the side affects. Wilma,CA. |

Belladonna taken in "regular" dosage will make your pupils bigger. Taken in "homeopathic" doses, it will do nothing unless you think it is.

i did some more research on belladonna , and found out that it was first used in europe and asia. women often put juice from the plant in their eyes to make their pupils huge and to make them seem more beautiful. it was also used as a hullicinogenic in high doses. ( dont get any ideas, lol) but can be deadly with too much. i also read that it has been used for spasms of all sorts. i was taking it for a few days but couldnt notice much, then i ran out of it. i figure i might as well keep trying it until i recieve my first botox shot in september down at UC Davis. good luck to all of you with this challenging disorder, and thanks for replying to my messages.
