This is the same study as before. If you didn't qualify then, you don't qualify now. If you do qualify, good luck, now's your chance.

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your post. I like it when you use a big font because I don't need my glasses to read it. You make me feel so young.

Best,
Linda

Below is new and further information on the NIH studies. There is a need for MORE participants in all the studies. We contacted Dr. Christy Ludlow of NIH in Beatheda, MD and she said we could post this information:

“Ongoing and new studies in the Laryngeal and Speech Section include:
A short term medication trial, studies of responses to sensory stimuli, a sensory block study, two new functional brain imaging studies using a
non-invasive techniques without radiation and Myobloc injections for persons no longer responding to Botox Type A.”

The more we support NIH, the more they will be interested in doing further work. The NIH comes up with ideas for studies from reading the SD literature and discussions with professionals and patients.

Further details are in the announcement post with title of “SD Research Study...” Basically, NIH requires between 2 and 4 visits to the NIH of 1 to 2 days each. All study-related expenses will be paid by the NIH. To qualify for a screening visit, a letter of referral and medical history information will be need. After screening, persons admitted for study will have their expenses for travel to the NIH covered on future visits.

Note if you have questions about studies contact Kimberly Bidus:
