I was just reading the Bulletin Board and wondering about blepharospasm. Since my last Botox in May I have been "scrunching" up my forehead in an effort to get my first words out. I am involuntarily closing my eyes now when I speak as well. Does this constitute blepharospasm? Has anybody else experienced this? Is this what you term blepharospasm? I only do this when I am making an effort to speak. This happens whether I have just recently had Botox or not? It seems like a weird mannerism which I can't control, but I was thinking maybe it's part of the whole disease?
My neurologist didn't really have time to talk to me about it when I had my last Botox last week as he was busy with the production line thing. I would really appreciate any input anybody has on this, and any ways people have tried to overcome the same symptoms. It only happens when I speak, or try to speak. Any feedback much appreciated. |

Although I do not have blepharospasm as a primary or major problem, I do have squinting and have the same phenomenon as you in that when I struggle to speak, my eyes want to close. For me, it's part of "Meige" syndrome, which also causes facial and neck spasms. Botox can help, just as it does for people with primary blepharospasm ("Benign Essential Blepharospasm", or BEB).
