Neck Pain, Dizziness and Shakiness

(I posted this in response to an old thread...it didn't bump up, so I'm re-posting).

It's amazing how so many SDers also have neck pain. Lately my neck has tension. Plus I have pain in my right arm, but it could be a pulled muscle (working out in the gym).

I'm getting symptoms I've had before and went away: Intermittent head-shakiness. Comes and goes. Lasts for maybe 5 seconds, in different periods of the day. I've seen it described here before...the classic "no-no" shake. Only mine tends to nod up and down. (It's usually not very noticeable). The shakes are worse than 5 years ago when I had them, but less frequent. Go figure. Could be stress, or related to the neck tension...hopefully not dystonia spreading. My voice has tremor and the neurologist thought I may have Essential Tremor, so maybe it's related.

The other sympton is lightheadedness. Seems to aggravate the head-shaking spells. Hopefully it'll resolve like before.

Anyone else going through this?

Hi, FN. I've never had the shakiness, but I have had neck pain. At first, it was just my neck, then it spread to upper back, and then I started having muscle spasms in my upper arm (left side for me). I, too, was concerned about additional focal dystonias.

My initial diagnosis was by "Dr." Madtaz who told me that I had a muscle tension problem. I saw a group of doctors at one of the many major clinics here in Houston - neurologists, orthopedists, and chiropractors who work together addressing neck and back pain.

As it turns out, the whole thing was a result of my not letting go of the muscle tension I use to speak when I wasn't speaking. I had a little physical therapy and some training to understand what I was doing wrong. Within about six weeks, I was feeling better than I had since I first got SD.

I do daily stretches I was taught and try to be mindful of the tension. Sometimes I still get some discomfort, but when I do, I know what the problem is and I can correct it.

Best regards,
Linda

P.S. You might want to monitor your blood pressure.
