Well, you know with all of the Washington DC blitz we are getting I wonder if anyone ever thought about how much money would be saved if they made an effort to do it right the first time...Don't get upset...start the appeals process....I have a brother with major Mental Illness , rescued from the street...couldn't function even had to be in a group home . They turned him down took an attorney plus his Shrink and Social Worker but he got mega bucks back pay... My sister in law has had a total of three back surgeries in just over a year, the last being a disc fusion with 6 pins..I have been concerned on how much pain killers she has been on...but you guessed it...she was supposed to be working...anyway hers is with an attorney awaiting an appeal...
Just keep you chin up....Have someone contact some of the non-profits in your area and find the names of good attorneys that specialize in filing claims.... I am sure the Bulletin Board or NSDA can help with names of good Dr's in your area.
When I used to volunteer their was a lot of gossip about quota's being behind the denials...I don't know if I still have a copy of the letter SSA sent denying it. But I know that I heard an attorney talk that used to work for SSA and they said that they used the argument that someone with mental illness could work as a toll booth attendent...Basically the attorney and the Dr had to prove that they could not function in such a position.
Just make sure everything you can't do is documented for the hearing.
Best of Luck....My background is in Accounting type work...lost a job after 15 years, have been functioning as a long term temp worker doing mainly Data Entry...but worry about what comes next.
