Chris,

I know of two pastors who have struggled with voice disorders. One has been miraculously healed and now has a powerful teaching ministry that began as a result of his experience. I will look for contact information. I contacted him when I heard his story and he was such a blessing to me. I was struggling with a voice and breathing disorder at the time.

Briefly his story is that as a pastor he struggled for 3 years with vocal cords that didn't function and was told that it would never get better. In fact he was told that over time he would even lose the ability to speak with the hoarse whisper that he was able to produce with the false vocal cords. He loved teaching God's word and because of that drive he ended up teaching a large Sunday School class with the help of a special mic. During one of his lessons God miraculously restored his voice. It was being recorded so there is an audio record of it. I have heard it and it is very moving. I was being blessed by the teaching even before the healing, but when it happened it was like the gates of heaven had opened for him.

His name is Duane Miller and last I heard he was in the Houston area. I will look for contact information for him and his ministry - I believe it is called "New Voice Ministry."

The other minister I referred to is a man I met at one of the large SD conferences - I believe it was the one in Victoria, British Columbia. His name is French. That's all I can think of now... it's either his first or last name... No.... I remember - It is French O'Shields I believe. I think he has a book out.

Both these stories bring out a real spiritual truth. Sometimes God's blessings come with physical healings and sometimes they come with strength and peace that passes understanding to deal with the problem. The real truth is that we can trust Him always. I am looking for a scripture now. If you know where it is let me know. I believe it was Paul who said something about the person who has suffered is done with the flesh. It's true that when we have suffered, some of the things that used to be very important to us just aren't anymore. It has a way of binging things into focus.

Yes, there are a lot of us out here. I'm glad you found us!
