I starting taking prozac over 2 wks. ago and have started noticing a little more voice breakage. Has anyone else experienced anything like this. Maybe its just me I'm not sure.

Look on the NSDA website and see if prozac is one of those drugs that can cause or aggravate dystonia. I doubt that the noticed increased in voice breakage is in your head...

Hi,
my voice is absolutely affected by antidepressant medication. After a rough divorce I was on Seroxat (SSRI medication, the same as Prozac) in 2001 and my voice was all gone for 5-6 weeks in the beginning of the treatment. I did also experience a lot of other side effects. After 6 weeks the side effects were gone and my voice got much better.
For the time being I'm trying a new kind of antidepressant (I’m not sure I need it right now, but I’ll give it a try) and my voice is so much worse. I will give this medication 2-3 more weeks to see how my brain reacts once it’s gotten used to the “serotonin showers”. My doctor says that my voice should get better with antidepressants… So hang in there and see what happens after 5-8 weeks!
Renee, I didn’t find any information on drugs (except botox of course) on the NSDA website, where should one look?

In answer to Maria's question:
I put "drugs that may cause dystonia" into my computer and got several hits that give the answer to this question. The website I was thinking of was the DYSTONIA support group website. They have a listing of drugs that can cause dystonia...
