I just saw an interesting article on our local news about a new drug for Fibromyalgia called Mirapex. They also mention it may be promising for Parkinson disease. It is supposed to be for pain relief, but also affects dopamine receptors in the brain. I saw a specialist in Rheumatology who said I may have the early signs of Firbromyalgia and I am always tired. I also notice that I do not feel well when there is less sun, which is also a part of Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. In 2003 I was diagnosed with Abductor Spasmodic Dysphonia and this drug peaked my interest if it would also help SD. Somehow I keep hoping they will find the right drug, even one that is used to treat other ailments, is just waiting to be discovered to help SD.

Hi,

I took Mirapex last fall and for restless legs. My family physician told me this medication was for Parkinson's but that she found that it helped with restless leg syndrome. I was taking a very very small dosage every night before going to bed and it helped. My symptoms for the restless legs have diminished alot and only took it for about 2 months. I did try more of the medication to see if it would help my spasms and anxiety and it did not. I have cervical dystonia.
