thyroplasty type 2

I'm new to this bb. I've been suffering from ad/sd for 4 yrs. i've tried botox and i'm one of the few it does not work for. doing some research i've found a procedure created by a dr. in japan called thyroplasty type 2. Does anyone have info on this procedure?

I've had ad/sd for four years. I tried botox(6 inj.), but it doesn't work for me. Doing a search on the Web, I stumbled on thyroplasty type 2, created by a doctor in Japan. I called the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. to see if they were familiar with this procedure. They've been doing this procedure for quite sometime. This procedure is for ad/sd only. Having one shot and poor results does not mean it won't work. Sometimes it takes several injections to arrive at the proper dosage for you. Also, you might try another doctor. So far they're happy with the results. He and Dr. Maragos at Mayo Clinic Rochester are the only docs in the U.S. who are doing this. Dr. Bansberg likes the procedure because, unlike other surgeries for SD, the larynx and surrounding nerves are not damaged in any way.
