I saw a headset with plastic cups on it on the internet.

the choir directors spoke highly of it. it is not expensive but a bit bulky. I thought it maybe good for practice at home.

just wondered if anyone has used this or has other suggestions to hear myslef as i speak.

thanks, gol

Yes I have a set of hearphones, as I use them to practise singing with. When using them they give you the impression that you are speaking louder than you actualy are, so you learn to vocalize quietly but correctly. But I dont know if they would benefit anyone with SD or other speech problems. As I said they have helped my singing but I dont think they have made any difference to my speaking patterns.

thanks you.

I am also in a choir and singing seems to help my SD.
Right after I sing I seem to otice that I speak with more fluency and come up into my mask area. ........ then gradually my voice seems to fall into my chest area and get more throaty.
So I though it might be helful. I appreciate you taking time to respond.

Back in '88, when I first developed SD, I went to an audiologist for help. She made an ear plug for my right ear. This did help me some - it helped me to hear myself and to try and modulate my breathing as it relates to my speaking, better.
For someone with very mild AD/SD, it might provide some help. John
