Can't cough, clear throat, sneeze, etc. after first Botox shot?

Hello. I've had AD for about a year and just had my first Botox shot on September 13th (1 unit on each side). When I got home that day, my voice was actually decent (sounded like I've been smoking 3 packs every day of my life, but at least it wasn't strained). But the next day, breathiness kicked in. So much so, I can barely hear myself speak. On top of that, it feels like I have no control of my throat muscles--I can't cough, can't clear my throat, sneeze, laugh or anything. Whenever I drink water, it tickles my throat, making me feel like coughing, but just can't do it. Also strange that before with the SD voice could sing clearly, now can't get out anything but air. My concern is that I wanted to go on a trip Oct. 4 that requires my voice and I have no idea if it will ever return.... :( Anyone have these kind of symptoms? What is the longest you've had to wait to get a normal voice?

It means the Botox shot should work and give you a near normal voice when the breathy voice goes away. How long will the breathy voice last? Sorry but that can be different for each person. It could last days or even weeks. You can minimize the breathiness by lowering the dosage. Getting a shot into only one side can also help lessen the breathiness. The tickle in your throat should go away within a week of getting the shot. In the meantime, you can eliminate the tickle by bending your head down, lowering your chin down to your chest before swallowing. Try it, it should work. | Recommend | Alert Where am I?
