Question: Have any of you experienced a 'sensation' in your tongue that differs from the norm? Also, the ache that I feel in the base of my throat is similar to the old 'lump in your throat' feeling when you're trying to hold yourself back from crying. I also have head tremors from time to time.

Anyone have similar sensations?

Thanks,
Peace2u

I used to get a feeling of a lump in the throat after a long day/night of talking on a "bad day" of hard straining to speak.
I think it was because my vocal chord muscles where sore from cramping for so long? I don't have tremors, but might have something going on with my right hand.

I've been waiting for someone else to mention a different feeling in their tongue. I have noticed it more since I had a botox injection. My tongue feels hot most of the time. But it could be because I find it plastered to the roof of my mouth alot. I have told my drs and on of them did a culture that came back normal. I try to make a conscious effort to work on relaxation for all of my neck and throat muscles. But it is a constant effort. I was wondering if its just me or if others experience this too. Thanks for mentioning it.

I also find that, without even realizing it, I am always pressing my tongue into the roof of my mouth. I'm sure this makes the muscles more tense, so I try to be more aware of it.

I don't know if this qualifies as a sensation but sometimes I can't get my tongue to work when I swallow. I think like walking, swallowing is just done without thinking. I find myself making a conscious effort to make my tongue move in the smooth, rolling motion to convey the saliva to the back of my throat and then making my tongue work so I can swallow. The tongue is one muscle but trying to make it work right so I can swallow is harder than making my legs work so I can walk.

My tongue and mouth just don't work right. It's like they just won't cooperate with my brain. The fluctuating voice is really something too. I sound different from one day to the next. Some days no voice, other days a nasal voice, another day I sound like a deaf person who has never heard sound before. Then I have a very breathy voice occasionally.

Is this what everyone experiences?

Thanks,
