I've had a similar pain and whenever I swallowed I was in a great deal of pain. I still have the sensation of a lump in my throat and now feel that "lump" even when I'm not swallowing. I can eat fine and drink fine, nothing gets stuck but swallowing saliva then I hurt.
I can't say I do anything in particular to relieve the pain. Sometimes I would rub my throat and that would help. Sometimes a warm cloth wrapped around my throat helps. I have found wearing a scarf all the time does help me more than anything else. I also have cervical dystonia and wear a neck brace when I'm outside but at home I'm much more comfortable with the feeling of the lump in my throat with a warm scarf aruond my neck. I think the light pressure of the scarf on the area where the "lump" is helps me.
I'n not sure if this is an SD thing, for me it could be a combination of SD and CD.
