I just used i711.com for a relay telephone call and it went very well. I was very pleased with the website and there is no special equipment needed, it works with the computer.

Thank you for the information. I'm going to try and use it today and will get back to all about how it worked with me. Telephone communication is HUGE for SDers, so this may be a help for many of us and perhaps give us more independence and confidence to tend to daily phone calls.

HI,
I tried using this website but it did not work for me as I have a MAC and they haven't perfected it for MACs yet, but they assured me that they are working on it. I have a friend that used it and was very pleased with it.

You might also want to try the AT&T Relay Service.

It’s great for business calls, making appointments, and brief personal calls.

http://www.relaycall.com/national/relay.html

The service works over their website and connects users to a Communications Assistant (CA) who will speak for you. You type in the number you want to call and then you communicate by typing outgoing messages on your computer keyboard and reading incoming messages on your computer screen. You type what you want to say, the CA talks for you, and then the CA types the responses back to you. It's great.

An advantage of this relay service is that it does not require any special equipment or even a telephone and it's free! There aren’t even any charges for long distance calls.

I have sd. I use a tty device to talk on the phone. It is a
small computer you type into and the relay operator reads the
message back to the person thats making the phone call. You
just have to get used to it. Good Luck you can pass it on.
