It's been 2 1/2 months since my last injection for ADSD. That was my 3rd. one. The 1st. was 1 unit (not sure but I assume 1 unit per side), the 2nd. was 1.7 and the last one was 1.2. We (the doctor and I) are trying the get the right dosage. He emphasized before I got my first injection that it is not a linear function which, I'm sure, you all know. Anyway, not only is it NOT linear, but with me, the side effects all seem to be different during and including the phase when you have your "good voice". This last time, I developed a cough and throat clearing that is really irritating since it's especially hard to cough when your entire esophagus seems to be weakened by the Botox. Has anyone else found coughing and throat clearing to be a problem. I can feel the mucus in my throat. Another thing that bothers me is the EMG the doctor uses. He doesn't seem to listen for the static sound the vocal cords emit before injecting the 2nd. side. I'm wondering how accurately he's doing the injections. So far, I'm going 3 months between injections. Modified by silental at Mon, Feb 14, 2011, 12:00:49 |

I, also, on many occasions get the cough and throat-clearing...I, also, get a tremendous amount of mucous. For me this is a small price to pay for a decent sounding voice...

Had botox injection 10 days ago and a successful one, yipee! I always have nasal congestion and more mucous for a couple of weeks after a botox. Small price to pay for my piece of mind, knowing I can talk right away and carry on conversations without worrying about how I sound. I hadn't had a good injection since Oct. of last year and emotionally I was a mess. My family, husband and coworkers are always happy after I get a good injection, and I work for a large HMO in the referral dept. with Medical Directors and nurses, so they understand what I go through. Been getting botox for about 18 years now, and I will admit I would love a more permanent solution, possibly SLAD. |
