Vagus Nerve Stimulation

My dr. just recently mentioned to me that she would like to try stimulating my vegus nerve to get a reaction (hopefully a good one) from my vocal chords. This procedure is used successful on people who have parkinson's. Stimulation has the capacity to eliminate the spasms, at least short term. They can place a device under the skin to permanently eliminate the spasms. Here's the question...Has anyone else heard of this or tried it?

Thanks, Ms. Tox

See my posting regarding my mom's situation. I would check into the possible complications from the implant very carefully and be sure you understand all the risks versus benefits.

Thanks for your reply about the vegus nerve stimulator. Where can I read about your mother's experience?

My best understanding (I am not a medical professional)is that the stimulation creates adductor spasms which could possibly benefit those with abductor SD.

I'm also giving a link to a full research article on the process, but the article notes the procedure needs to be researched.
