Hi Dawn,This sounds oh so familiar to me. I remember well on several occassions waking up yelling out after a bad dream of being attacked and not being able to yell for help. Also on many occassions my husband would hear me in the middle of the night talking in my sleep. He would also wake me up in the morning and I'd still be almost asleep and my voice would come out crystal clear. It was the strangest thing and I don't have the slightest theory what would cause this other than a person being in such a relaxed state of mind. As soon as I woke up good enough to be really awake, my voice would be spasming.
I guess this is just another piece of the puzzle. And this makes a very clear point that SD in a neurological condition.
P.S: I still have terrible dreams and wake myself up or my husband. It really is imbrassing and funny too at times.

Hi Dawn,Doesn't sound unusual to me at all. Since you've been on the BB for awhile and you know how to work it, look up (SEARCH) some of the stuff we have discussed on "sensory tricks" and the posts where we've gone back and forth re speaking (with SD) in foreign languages. Our voices (my voice and many others) often works better in a foreign language.
True SD is a "brain-thing." Your description of yelling out in your sleep with a powerful voice fits quite nicely into a few of the threads and conversations we've had on the BB over the past few years. Not unusual at all. In fact...more typical of real-SD than some of the things which appear here. Especially since I have heard your voice on the phone.
Hope you had a good holiday. Are you guys still in So Carolina or have you moved to Colorado yet? If you're in CO, you should come to the Arizona Symposium on March 9th because we usually discuss these subjects (sensory-tricks, etc.) there. You would learn alot on this exact subject you brought up from other SD'ers in person.

Hi Lynne,We're still in upstate S.C. but have scrapped the Colorado move and opted to move back to Florida this spring. I posted my experience
with the "sleep yelling" because it was a first time for me in several
regards. Mostly in the fact that in my dream I actually recognized my
voice problem and anticipated not being able to get the scream for help
out. Then, the fact that the yell came out so extraordinarily well.
My son said that it didn't have any of the characteristics of my usual
voice at all. It wasn't hoarse or deep as well as there were no catches
or spasms. I used to be able to yell spasm free but it was always still
deep and or raspy sounding. I do understand the concept of sensory tricks but this was just downright weird to me....I guess I would love to be able to grab that sleeping voice and hold onto it! LOL
I wish you all the best in this new year and hope you enjoy the Arizona
symposium! I'll miss this one, too but know that someday I will get to
one somewhere.
