telephones and voice amplifiers?

I am an AB and have not been helped with Botox injections. I have only a whisper most of the time. My job required some phone communication and wonder if someone out there has found a telephone that provides some help. Also, I have just purchased a Chattervox amp. system and find it quite helpful in certain situations but not in others. What are your experiences/comments?

Hi Dwight, I have AB also, but the botox has helped me a lot. I am a teacher and use the Chattervox everyday. Even though my voice doesn't have as many spasms and it has regained some volume since the botox, it is not effective in a room full of children. Somethng I have noticed is that on Mondays my voice is not a strong but by Friday it is great (relatively speaking). I think that by using my voice a lot during the week I train my muscles and by weeks end they are much less spasmy.
Are you going to be at the Scottsdale symposium?
Katrina

Dwight I also have a telephone at home that amplifies voice. I need to as for one at work. It would make talking to parents a lot easier.

Dwight,

I had AD/Sd and then had the surgery at UCLA by Dr. Berke. I did not get a voice back so now I'm more "like" an AB/SDer. That is, my voice is weak and breathy. I cannot be heard in a noisy environment.
I bought a "GraybaR" phone with an amplifier handset. The phone and handset ran around $80.00
While not the best, it helps with many of the folks I talk to in Fla. who are hard of hearing. The handset has a volume control and that seems to work well. If you want more information, email me and I'll send you what I have. John

dwight, i also have only a whisper most of the time. i purchased a telephone that has an amplified reciever. it has been a blessing for me. it has a volumn control so you can adjust according to need. call you local phone co and tell them your needs, or you may find a listing for customers with disabilities. mine is a Walker Equipment W7 series Amplified Reciever Handset.
