Re: botox injection
Wow, I'm going to be most interested to read the postings from folks who have been getting injections over a long span of time. A month between shots is a lot shorter interval than I have heard about, but I'm still new to this. And maybe it wouldn't be an injection into the same side/muscle...?

Re: botox injection
Hi Harriet,
You are right, it would be best for you to talk things over with the doctor who did the injection. By all means let him (or her) know that you are not satisfied with the results of your injection, and would like to know how to get a better result.
That said, I'm sure that folks on the BB would be happy to share their own experiences and that might be useful to you. However, it would be helpful if you could give us some more information about you such as what type of SD you have (adductor or abductor), whether you have been injected before, and what dosage you had injected, and whether it was unilateral or bilateral.best,

Re: botox injection
After 10 years of receiving injections, both bilaterial and unilaterial, I could tell if a shot worked or did not work. If it didn't work, I'd go right back for another shot. Typically, if it did not work, it meant the doctor missed the target. The second shot usually was effective. So if, after one month, you have not gotten a good result, you probably won't get one. I would then return for another injections. John
Re: botox injection
You are all much more knowledgeable than I.
So glad to get any sort of help after so
many years that I dont know if I'm abductor
or the other.....dont know the dosage....
(have had shots for over 2 years) had 1
thru the nose (had best results from that)
but even for the sake of good voice won't
do it that way again......guess I should
stop acting like an idiot and learn more
I have never gone to a neurologist only
thru a throat specialist who was running
the botox clinic........the time before
this I had 5 months of good voice after
3 weeks of whispering....If anybody is
interested where am I going wrong???
Re: botox injection
Hi Harriet
For the past ten years i have had the pleasure of Botox injections about every 10 weeks. Some have missed completly, most have worked with a breathy voice for a few weeks then a recovery to about 80% with gradual depreciation. Currently I'm 6 months since my last injections and my voice had go real bad over the past month. Stress and tiredness make it worse.Talk to your doctor ... I'm sure he will suggest the frequency of treatment. It can miss though but ultimatly as you have more you'll get regular paterns and results. The effectiveness also depends on the dosage - currently I'm on 3 units per side. John Byrne
