Facial Twitching

Hi all. I haven't been on here for many months. I have AB/SD and lately my lips and chin have been twitching. Is this something any of you have had?

Hello Sandy

Sometimes it can happen that an SD patient (that is, laryngeal dystonia) can experience the dystonia spreading to the muscles around the mouth/jaw. In this case it is referred to as "oromandibular dystonia". I hope that doesn't turn out to be the case with you - it can make eating very difficult for example.

Regards

David

It could also be benign fasciculations, the kind of twitching you get under stress sometimes. I've had them in the eyes, arms and legs. I've done a Net search and most info says it's a common (but annoying) thing.

Try drinking some Tonic Water (with quinine in it)...it seems to help the muscles.

I have the same when very tired or stressed, as do most people I know/work with. It would have to be very twitchy indeed before I associated it with dystonia - this is very small and goes away after a while.
