I have by accident noticed that when I have a headache and take Motrin, my voice is better, sometimes a lot better. I take 600mg for a headache and wondered if anyone else has ever noticed this too. I think Motrin, while being a pain reliever, is also a muscle relaxer. To me it would seem that pharmaceutical companies could come up with some kind of pill to specifically target and relax the muscles in the vocal area. |

Hmm, VERY interesting! When it's "that time of month" sometimes I take a Motrin. My voice usually improves, but I don't know if it's my cycle or the Motrin! Be careful experimenting with taking it on a regular basis. Seems I've read somewhere long-term use can lead to liver or kidney problems. Might want to ask a doctor or pharmacist about it. --fancynancy--

In my try-and-see-if-this-works efforts I have found that Ibuprofen does help. I don't know why, but it does. I didn't say cure, but I do know from repeated trials that it does help me. I typically take 400 mg; be careful not to take > 1000 mg per day for too long. Gary Lea |
