I was taking Pravachol to control cholesterol. I noticed some signs of muscle weakness (a side effect of Pravachol, the manufacutrer notes). I quit Pravachol 7 days ago and the muscle weakness (right arm) has significantly lessened, and my vocal cord spasms have, too. Has anyone else had any experience with Pravachol? Thank you. The STATIN (Cholesterol-lowering) drugs can cause nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy).

There's some good info about this, at the Peripheral Neuropathy forum, over at http://www.braintalk.org

Also, the STATINS can cause very severe muscle damage, kidney damage, etc. I think you were wise to quit taking this dangerous medication that probably will be off the market, once damaged patients' bad experiences force the FDA to eventually do the right thing.

At the Peripheral Neuropathy forum, there are references to books written by doctors, about less dangerous methods of helping one's cardiovascular system.
