I wanted to share what happened this past Friday when I had my first Botox injection. I was not sure what to expect because all of the stories I have read here have been very different. I could not have asked for a more rewarding outcome. I received my injection about 2:30 last Friday afternoon. My doctor said she was able to inject both sides and felt that I should have good results: she said she uses the same dose for all of her first time patients (I do not remember the dose.)We did it without and anesthetic and it was not too uncomfortable. Upon exiting the office, I met up with my parents who had taken my husband and I to the Dr. office. I was not told I should not talk, so I was just carrying on a conversation with my mom,and she suddenly commented that my voice sounded almost normal! She was so impressed! It has continued to improve almost hourly, and I have not had any choking and very little breathiness, although when singing in church on Sunday (the first time in many years) my voice was much softer than I remember it being before. Today I feel like it is still getting stronger, although I sometimes feel like I am talking through my nose area, and I feel like I am talking through a wad of cotton and have something in my throat, but those around me say I sound almost normal. Either way, I am very pleased with the results I have had so far. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has had quick results like this, and how long your injection kept your voice "good."
