We'd like to thank all of the loyal members of the Spasmodic Dysphonia Bulletin Board for your patience during this difficult period.

The SD board is now operational. However, there are a few changes and a few technical problems:

  • ALL passwords will have to be re-created. When you try to log in, it will tell you your password is invalid. Click the link "request lost password" and enter your login name and e-mail address. A new, temporary password will be e-mailed to you. Once you get it, log back in and choose "modify my profile" and you will be able to change the password to something you can remember. If your e-mail has changed since you registered, please use the Feedback Form (link below) and we'll change it for you. Please use the subject header "sd password" so we know your message is not spam! Unfortunately, we aren't always available, so it may take a few hours or even a day for you to get your "temporary password". Please be patient and don't send repeated requests!

  • The new version of the software automatically displays the e-mail address of the author of a post when you click on that person's name on the main page, or when you click "view profile" on a post. This seems to be becoming the standard in the on-line world. For those few people who in the past have told us they want their e-mail address kept secret, the only recourse is to obtain a second e-mail address, for example a free "hotmail" or "yahoo" address, and use THAT address when you register.

  • There are some changes in the appearance of the board. Some are very nice, but our webmaster, Bob, says that a few of them look "clunky", and that, depending on your browser and operating system, some people may have difficulty reading certain pages. He promises to work on that soon, but it is not the #1 priority.

  • Our domain address is http://www.dystonia-bb.org/forums/sd/. If you bookmarked the BB at some time in the past using an IP address, please change your bookmark. Also note that it may take a few days or longer before everyone is able to access the BB. A message has been sent to every internet service provider in the world telling them how to find www.dystonia-bb.org. However, some ISPs take some time to processs those messages, so some members may not be able to access the BB right away. There is nothing we can do about it, so please be patient. Most people should be back on line within a couple of days, and almost everyone within a week or two.

    Welcome Back!!

Welcome back to everyone! Who knew that six weeks could seem so long? So many have missed the BB, including us. On February 25th when the BB went down, we had no idea how much work would be required to restore it.

Thanks to all BB participants for your indulgence and understanding during what has turned out to be a complex software/hardware conversion, in reconfiguring our online forum with a new webhosting company, following the corporate takeover of our former webhost. Bob Campbell (our webmaster) put in numerous volunteer hours of research and technical work to move our BB to a more viable webhosting company.

Please read the Webmaster's April 6th post for detailed information regarding restoring your password and expectations regarding the new bulletin board. The *bugs* are still being worked out but the new webhosting company offers some "added attractions" which we hope will benefit BB participants in the long run.

During the six weeks the BB was offline, our esteemed colleague, Lloyd Pearson (Moderator-LP), retired. Lloyd indicated his intention to retire from the position several months ago but was generous enough to stay on until the end of March in order to see the moderator transition through.

Lloyd has been a valued moderator, with a voice of integrity and balance, over several years on the BB. The devotion he has brought to the job has served the SD community well. We will miss working closely with him and wish him a relaxing "moderator-retirement." We hope he will continue to offer his wisdom and experience periodically, through posting on the BB.

Thanks to you all - and special appreciation to Bob Campbell and Lloyd
Pearson.
